Medanit IT Solutions Makes the ADHN Startups Watchlist 2026

Medanit IT Solutions, an Ethiopian digital health startup, has been selected for the ADHN Startups Watchlist 2026, Shega reported. The listing puts the company's multi-channel approach to healthcare access on a continental stage.

Why a watchlist place is worth something

Selection to a continental watchlist is not funding and it is not revenue. What it is, for an Ethiopian company, is distribution into the only rooms where African health-tech capital actually gets allocated — panels, pilot programmes with ministries in other markets, and the shortlists that development-finance institutions work from when they are told to deploy into digital health.

Ethiopian startups are chronically under-represented on those lists relative to the size of the market, for reasons that have more to do with visibility and the difficulty of moving money than with the quality of the companies. Every entry on one is a small correction to that.

The multi-channel detail

The phrase doing the work in Shega's description is multi-channel. Health-tech built for an Ethiopian user base cannot assume a smartphone and a data plan; a service that reaches patients through more than one route — feature phones, USSD or SMS alongside an app, and physical points of care — is designed for the country it is in rather than for the deck. That is usually the difference between a pilot and a business here.

Shega's report does not say what Medanit's product set covers, how many users or facilities it serves, whether it has raised capital or from whom, or what the watchlist placement comes with beyond the listing itself. ADHN has not published the full 2026 list in the report, and it is not clear how many other Ethiopian companies were selected.
