Gloria Steinem Has Died at 92

Gloria Steinem, 1934–2026

Gloria Steinem, the writer, journalist and activist who became the most recognisable figure of American second-wave feminism, died on 3 September at 92, at her home in New York. Her death was announced by her foundation. No cause was given.

She co-founded Ms. Magazine and worked as a journalist before and throughout her activism — the reporting came first, and the advocacy grew out of what it found.
